Gregory North

Who is Gregory North?

Gregory North has a passion for performing. As a writer and performer of Australian Bush Poetry and yarns (tall stories) he loves to entertain.

Since his first performance in 2003 Greg has gone on to become the male Bush Poetry Champion of Australia in 2008, 2009 and 2010 and is now a regular at Winton's Matilda Country Tourist Park and North Gregory Hotel (not really named for him) as well as many other bush poetry events. Greg's quirky humour and love for entertaining are apparent whenever he takes the stage. He also has a wonderful gift for accents, which makes him unique among bush verse entertainers.

Bush Poetry is now a big part of Greg's life. He performs regularly and has made several recordings. Greg presented the Blue Mountains Community Radio program 'Bush Verse, Comedy & Worse' for seven years until April 2011. He was featured in Wild Magazine Issue 148 Jul-Aug 2015 on page 42.

Australian Bush Poets Association Past-President, Frank Daniel, called Gregory North a "great new talent" and writer-entertainer-producer Jim Haynes said, "Greg is the most original talent to appear on the Bush Poetry scene for a long time. I heard him perform just once and immediately offered to produce an album of his work."

Along the way Greg has won many awards for his poetry and yarn spinning. Check out his list of achievements.

Greg lives in the beautiful Blue Mountains of New South Wales where he enjoys the outdoors through bush walking and cycling. He is also active in his local Toastmasters Club.
